While you are praying!

As Christians we live our daily lives by Faith. We are saved by Faith,

For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, (Ephesians 2:8 NKJV)

We believe by Faith that God is with us all the time because He has promised that.

I am with you always, even to the end of the age. (Matthew 28:20 NKJV)

“And the Lord, He is the One who goes before you. He will be with you, He will not leave you nor forsake you; do not fear nor be dismayed.”” (Deuteronomy 31:8 NKJV)

When we pray we believe, by Faith, that He will answer our prayers.

“Therefore I say to you, whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have them. (Mark 11:24 NKJV)

Sometimes having Faith when we pray  is very difficult, especially if we have been praying for a long time for breakthrough in certain areas of our life and we see nothing happening.  I would like, as an encouragement to look at a passage of scripture from the Old Testament to show that even though we can’t see how God is answering prayer there are wheels in motion to see the breakthrough happen.

I want to look in Exodus and look at the plight of the Israelites under Egyptian rule. The Israelites were in Egypt because of Joseph. (I don’t want to go through the Joseph story here but if you want further encouragement as to how amazing our God is, read from Genesis chapter 37 until the end of the book.) The Israelites are in Egypt and have grown in number and have become a threat. Exodus puts it like this

But the children of Israel were fruitful and increased abundantly, multiplied and grew exceedingly mighty; and the land was filled with them.  Now there arose a new king over Egypt, who did not know Joseph.  And he said to his people, “Look, the people of the children of Israel are more and mightier than we;  come, let us deal shrewdly with them, lest they multiply, and it happen, in the event of war, that they also join our enemies and fight against us, and so go up out of the land.” (Exodus 1: 7-10 NKJV)

From becoming a free people they are made to be slaves. The Pharaoh, at the time, even ordered the death of new born males to curb the rise in population. It is during this time that we are introduced to Moses who is saved from death by the ingenuity of his mother and is brought up in the Courts of Pharaoh by the Pharaoah’s daughter with his mother as his nurse maid. Let’s just stop there for a second and ponder on that fact. How amazing is God to orchestrate that!! He knew the plight the Israelites were under at this time before time began and had put into place circumstances that would save the child who would eventually lead His people out of bondage and into freedom.

Moses, to make matters a bit more complicated, murders an Egyptian and has to run from Pharaoah’s anger to a country called Midian where he settles down, marries and has a family!!

It is from here that I want us to look at God’s unseen working when it comes to answers to prayer. Let’s have a look at the Israelites;

“Now it happened in the process of time that the king of Egypt died. Then the children of Israel groaned because of the bondage, and they cried out; and their cry came up to God because of the bondage.” (Exodus 2:23 NKJV)

The verse seems to suggest that one day they all decided that they had had enough and so got together in a huge slave prayer meeting and prayed. I can tell you that this calling out to God wasn’t a one off occurrence. You can imagine the prayers daily and nightly that were lifted up. “Save us! Free us! Where are you? Come on God have you forgotten us? You promised us! Remember what You said to Abraham! Don’t leave us here.” etc., etc.

They were doing the same as we do. They were petitioning God. asking for His help. The story goes on,

So God heard their groaning, and God remembered His covenant with Abraham, with Isaac, and with Jacob.  And God looked upon the children of Israel, and God acknowledged them. (Exodus 2:24 – 25NKJV)

The point that I want to make is this,,,,, They didn’t know that was His response. He didn’t suddenly come down from heaven and say “Alright my children, don’t be concerned now, everything will be alright. I am now going to set you free.” They hadn’t a clue and I expect they kept on praying, asking for their freedom but God had heard and from that point the prayer was answered. They wouldn’t know that God answered the prayer until they saw the answer for themselves but God had heard and answered.

The reason that the writer knew God had answered their prayers was because Moses himself wrote most of Exodus and he knew that while the Israelites were praying, God was answering them by calling in on him, via the burning bush while he was in Midian. a couple of hundred kilometres away, watching his father-in-law’s sheep!!

“And the Lord said: “I have surely seen the oppression of My people who are in Egypt, and have heard their cry because of their taskmasters, for I know their sorrows.  So I have come down to deliver them out of the hand of the Egyptians, and to bring them up from that land to a good and large land, to a land flowing with milk and honey,” (Exodus 3: 7-8 NKJV)

The point I want us to see is that while we are praying we haven’t a clue the wheels God has already put in motion to see that prayer fulfilled. Remember He already knows what we are going to say before we say it.

“You know what I am going to say even before I say it, LORD” (Psalm 139:4 NLT)

When you pray God always hears and always answers.

Now this is the confidence that we have in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us.  And if we know that He hears us, whatever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we have asked of Him. (1 John 5: 14-15 NKJV)

Be encouraged. Don’t give up. There might be a Moses who at this moment is answering a call of God which is somehow going to answer your prayer or at least contribute to the answer to your prayer. We cannot see the unseen.

““Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, nor have entered into the heart of man the things which God has prepared for those who love Him.”” (1 Corinthians 2:9 NKJV)

Do not give up hope. Hope is vital and a gift from God.

“For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the LORD, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.” ( Jeremiah 29:11 NKJV )

The next verse is important. God gives us the hope and …

Then you will call upon Me and go and pray to Me, and I will listen to you. (Jeremiah 29:12 NKJV)

In conclusion, God answered the Israelites’ cries but they had no idea that He had. We often don’t know either until we receive the answer. Faith is believing that God has heard and is faithful to answer. Are you willing to hang on. The answer may be there in the next second. God has answered your prayer without a doubt. Hang in there.

Prayer starter,

Father thank you for Your love for me. Help me to hang on to the hope that You have heard my prayer and that the wheels have been put into motion to see the answer realised.

I Am Your God!!

“I am Your God!” he said.

I was having coffee with a good friend of mine and we were just chatting when I heard him say, “I am Your God!” I didn’t think much of it but then he repeated it and he repeated it. He just kept on saying, “I am Your God! I am Your God! I am Your God!” I actually began to question the sanity of my friend. We literally where in a crowded local coffee shop and he wasn’t talking quietly. All I could hear was him saying, “I am Your God!” and then suddenly I found myself crying, Tears rolling down my cheeks. I suddenly started to hear what he was saying. I began to hear God through him. God was saying to me, “I am Your God!” I realised that I had forgotten to let Him be my God. I just couldn’t stop crying but I knew this was a very important statement for me to grasp.

“I am Your God!” The first words that started to sink in were “Your God!” I think this was was one of the reasons that God revealed this in a full coffee shop. Even though I knew God was God of all things and that included the people in the shop, He was reminding me that He was my God as an individual, “Your God!” “Your God!” “Your God!” “I am Your God!” His love is inclusive but also exclusive!! Somehow in my busyness I had forgotten that He wanted to be and was, MY God. How easily it had been to take-back the reins of my life, hence the tears.

After the coffee I was able to go home and ponder what God had been saying. It was simple really……. He wants to be my God. It is a longing of His, that was why He made me, it was for His purposes and not mine. God knows what is best for me a lot more than I do. He longs for me to be in a position where I can trust Him for everything because then I will be able to live in the abundance He has for me. I don’t live in abundance basically because I keep areas of my life to myself.

I came home and saw that there were areas of my life that I simply didn’t trust God with, especially areas where I had been hurt at some point. Just a thought…….  ask your Heavenly Father what areas of your life you are holding on to. He will tell you and then love you so much that you can’t help but give them over to Him. That is what I did. I sat and just asked Him. I was very honest with Him and pointed out the areas where I had felt let down. God is big enough to cope with that. I looked deeply and saw areas where things had gone radically wrong, in relationships, work, church and my general walk with Him. How can I trust You God when these things just didn’t turn out? How can I give You areas when my life may fall apart?

As I spent time with this, the first fact I realised was that no matter what had happened I was still talking to God. even after all the hurt and the failure. He was still in my life and cared enough about me to tell me very clearly that He was/is my God. So no matter what, His word was true:

And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose. (Romans 8:28 NKJV)

The second fact was that many of the areas that had appeared not to go as I thought they should, were aspects of my life where I had taken over the control in the guise of it being “God’s Will”. How many of us do that, or is it just me? Many times when situations started to go pear shaped I didn’t necessarily turn to my Heavenly Father for help but blindly sorted out what to do next from my flesh or my soul, in other words from an emotional level. There is no doubt that God has the right way.i-am-the-lord-your-god

Any way, I don’t want to get bogged down in all this, the fact is that it is not about me or you, it is about Him! “I AM YOUR GOD!!!” He has chosen me. I am hand picked. The Great I Am has selected me to be His child and I need to give Him permission to be that for me.

There are many scriptures where God says I am the God ….. of your father—the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, ….. who brought you out of the land of Egypt,….of Bethel

There are many scriptures where God declares He is our Lord  specifically. Let us look at some and start to declare them in our lives.

“Fear not, for I am with you;
Be not dismayed, for I am your God.
I will strengthen you,
Yes, I will help you,
I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.” (Isaiah 41:10 NKJV)

“I will walk among you and be your God, and you shall be My people.” (Leviticus 26:12 NKJV)
“I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, to be your God: I am the Lord your God.” (Numbers 15:41 NKJV)
I like this verse because it shows us that the reason He brought us out of bondage was to be our God. He cares enough to bring us out of the areas that bind us so that He can be God to me. love me and protect me.
“You shall not be terrified of them; for the Lord your God, the great and awesome God, is among you.” (Deuteronomy 7:21 NKJV)
“For the Lord your God walks in the midst of your camp, to deliver you and give your enemies over to you; therefore your camp shall be holy, that He may see no unclean thing among you, and turn away from you.”  (Deuteronomy 23:14 NKJV)
“I am the Lord your God And there is no other. My people shall never be put to shame.” (Joel 2:27 NKJV)
If we can understand how important it is to recognise that it is His work in us and that His whole desire is to be our God then we can see that nothing can stop us. Not even us!!
So we may boldly say: “The Lord is my helper; I will not fear. What can man do to me?” (Hebrews 13:6 NKJV)
I realise now that the more I take control, I receive less of Him. To receive more of Him I have to let go. It is worth it. He knows our future. He knows what lies ahead. He knows what we will need in the future. Only His love sustains.
” We must learn to live before an audience of One. Receiving the nod from our Master has great power in the hearts of those who love Him. It has more power than the approval of all others.” (Mike Bickle from a talk on the Divine Kiss based on the Song of Songs)

Be Ready!!

These are two recent prophecies that I thought I would share.

There is to be a burning away but the flames will be preparing seeds for the rain! The rainfall will come! Rain on rain and it will water the seed! The seed because of the burning will grow quickly! Putting down roots in soil that has also seen burning but which is so fertile that the root grows deeply and develops foundation allowing the new shoots to develop! Shoots and shoots! Quick growth! Strong growth! A plentiful harvest! The burning was important! Allow God to burn away the old growth for the new to come!

I look to the hills from where comes my help! My help comes from the Lord! But the mountains have been moved, they have been razed to the ground! The entry for the Lord has been made ready! The angels have been working. The way is prepared!!! The Highway from Heaven is made! A Freeway with no lanes! Ready for the King of Heaven and Heaven’s Armies to match down!

I look to the hills and they are replaced by the freeway of God! Heaven is on the move! He is on the move!

We can hear the shouts! The shouts have been obscured by the mountains but no longer! The Shout of Heaven Roars out! The Shout of Heaven Roars out! The Shout of Heaven Roars out! The King is riding! The King is riding! He is on His charger! (Seven eyes and seven horns) A flaming sword in His hand! A crown of fire on His Head! Fire burns in His eyes! Flames of truth burn from His mouth!

The King of Glory comes! Hail to the King of Glory! The Lord Full of Glory! The Lord in All His Glory! Glory to You Lord King of Glory! Glory, Laud and Honour to you!

“For the oppression of the poor, for the sighing of the needy,
Now I will arise,” says the Lord;
“I will set him in the safety for which he yearns.” (Psalm 12:5 NKJV)

This verse is written on my heart. This was one of those verses that leap out at you when you read it, even though it may have been read many times before. I was in a dark place in my life, I had  been reading through Psalms so I decided to carry on from where I had left off, which turned out to be Psalm 12. When I got to verse 5 I realised that God was speaking directly to me. This verse became mine. The Holy Spirit gave me the faith to realise that this was not just a general promise but a specific promise to my life. The “HIM”  in the verse was me.

The wonderful aspect of this verse is that I have never doubted that it is for me. I declare it over myself. I remind myself of it when I am feeling down. I know that God is placing me in the safety which I have always yearned.

Let’s have a look at that word yearn. italian-proverb-quote-one-is-never-too-old-to-yearn The dictionary definition says “have an intense feeling of longing for something, typically something that one has lost or been separated from.” Synonyms include, long for, want, hanker, desire, pine, ache languish, hunger, crave, thirst, hope etc.

Now we’ll look at the word safety. Dictionary says “the state or quality of being safe; freedom from the occurrence or risk of injury, danger, or loss”. Synonyms include, cover, defence, refuge, immunity, sanctuary, safeguard, assurance preservation etc.

If you mix and match the synonyms of safety and yearning together you have the picture of my life before God gave me this verse. Hungry for refuge! Thirsty for assurance! Craving sanctuary! Longing for covering!

What I want you to realise is that I was a Spirit filled, God loving man. I was still, however, longing for something. I hadn’t found the safety I yearned for. How can that be you may ask? Even if you didn’t ask, I am still going to tell you !! I believe I was still yearning because, firstly,  I was looking in the wrong place for the answer! I kept on looking for people to make me safe, to give me security and comfort.hqdefault1 It’s acceptable, as a child, to look to the people around you to keep you safe but as you grow older it becomes a bit of an issue. The danger is that you become co-dependent on those around you and they easily let you down because they are human. Sadly this is true even if you are looking for security from the people in your church! For me rejection appeared to be the norm. I knew in my head that God loved me but I didn’t understand what that meant in my heart. I don’t think I understood what love was all about.

Through the verse, God showed me it was His job to place me in security.

Now I will arise,” says the Lord; “I will set him in the safety for which he yearns.” (Psalm 12:5 NKJV)

It is His job alone. All I needed to do was place myself in the position to receive it. I literally had to stop searching for my needs and wants to be met in the way that I thought they should be. I had to trust that God actually did know best!!

This brings me to the second reason for me not receiving the fullness of God’s love. I still felt that it was up to me to show that I deserved God’s love. Somewhere  I believed that I had to earn it. Even though I knew Jesus died on the cross for me, I felt that for God to love me fully I mustn’t make mistakes and fall into the same sin time and time again. If I did. I obviously couldn’t be loved by God. Basically I was telling Jesus that although He died on the cross for me, it wasn’t enough and I had to do my share. This is such a lie of the enemy. When Jesus said from the cross “It is Finished!” He meant it. There was nothing else to be done.

“So when Jesus had received the sour wine, He said, “It is finished!” And bowing His head, He gave up His spirit.” (John 19:30 NKJV)

There is a teaching prevalent in many churches that if you keep sinning and asking God for forgiveness in the same area that actually you can’t be meaning it because you wouldn’t keep doing it. This is not the truth. God loves you. Keep bringing your issues to God and He will deal with them in His time and in His way. Your journey is unique. You are unique.

If you are a person who is looking for someone to fulfil your needs I can tell you from experience that you will not find it. You may be expecting your friends or your spouse or family or your brothers and sisters in Christ to do it. You will be disappointed. There is only one who can fill this gap and He is your Heavenly Father.

The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. (Psalm 23:1 NKJV)

If you are yearning, longing, wanting, hankering, desiring, pining, aching, languishing, hungry, craving, thirsty, hoping for love, cover, defence, refuge, immunity, sanctuary, safeguard, assurance preservation etc. then I urge you to seek Him and ask Him to show you how much He loves you. Seek Him in His word. Perhaps start in Psalms and ask Holy Spirit to make reveal what your Heavenly Father says about you.

I want you to declare this over your life each day:b25346e3af8bbb9d89d01f8a19f5b9e6

“There is nothing I can do today that will make God love me more. His love for me is always complete! He loves me 100% all of the time!!”

This is a great verse,

“I know that whatever God does, It shall be forever. Nothing can be added to it, And nothing taken from it. God does it, that men should fear before Him.” (Ecclesiastes 3:14 NKJV)

So to conclude. Whatever you are longing for, whether it be fame, fortune, success, friends, fulfilment etc go to God first and then everything will fall into place and He will be the person who fills the longing.

“But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.” (Matt 6:33 NKJV)

My Child

You are loved My child, you are so loved. I look at you with eyes that see My Son, My Jesus! You are placed in Him and I see only Him when I look at you. There is no stain in you, only His Glory. You dwell in my Son’s Glory. Oh My dear, dear child, why do you keep looking back? What has been has been. There is nothing for you in the past. I live in your now and in your future. Rest in the now! Will you rest in me, My child? Will you allow me to lay you down in the most beautiful of places, so that I can show you how much I love you. Let me show you. Just let me show you!

My Dear child, how beautiful you are when you rest. How peaceful and untroubled you look. Remember that I have taken your worries and pain and they were nailed to a cross in My Dear, Dear Son,father Jesus. Just let the sorrow flow out of you and let Me replace it with My joy. My joy renews you. My joy gives you strength. My joy allows you to fly, to rise up on wings of eagles and soar to the high places. Rest in me and receive my joy.

Listen for My voice, give Me permission to speak to you at any time. You are My precious lamb and My sheep hear My voice. Let Me sing to you as you rest. Let My voice sooth your heart. Let Me do it. Don’t look for other ways to find peace because My peace lasts and is eternal. I bring peace that is beyond comprehension. As you lie in my rest, let My peace flow through you like a warm breeze. Let the breeze blow out your anxieties.

Come to me my child, come to me and you will findfather1 me. Come to me I am not hidden. I am your Extravagant Father with only good things for you. I have everything that you need. No one else can do that for you. Come to me and I will protect you, nestle in and you will feel My arms around you. Oh My Dear Child My love for you is deep, I long for you to take it all in and to know that you are secure in Me.

You are so much part of Me, My dear one, My Life flows through you. It is My breath that is in you. My Holy Spirit is right there with you. He is in you. Allow Him to speak to you at any time. He is so much fun. He brings laughter. He turns your ashes into beauty. Do you know how He does it? It isn’t a secret. He allows you to see yourself as I do. I only see your beauty and so the ashes just disappear and you see yourself as the beautiful being I created you to be. You are not a mistake. Laugh at the fact that you thought you were a mistake. I have never made a mistake and I never will. You are chosen by me. I saw you and knew you before I created the world. Hahaha! As if I would make a mistake!Remember I see you as I see Jesus because you are in Him. I love you as much as I love Him. Do you hear that. I will repeat it because you need to allow me to write it in your heart. I love you as much as I love Him! I love you as much as I love Him! I love you as much as I love Him!

Oh, My child know that if I see Jesus and not you, I cannot see your sin or mistakes, they are long dead and gone, I only see what I can put into your life to help you in your walk with Me. I am your Father, you lack for nothing in Me! Hahaha! Did you hear that…. You lack for nothing in Me!  You lack for nothing in Me!  You have everything you need.

Remember! Rest in Me! Rest in Me! Rest in Me! Rest in Me! Recognise My voice. Lean into Me and let me love you! Allow My peace and joy to flood over you, in your rest. I love you as much as I love Jesus and no matter how much you do or how little you do, I cannot love you more.

Bring out your dead!

I don’t know if you saw the Monty Python movie “The Holy Grail” or the even better, in my opinion, Broadway Musical version, “Spamalot”? Spamalot2There is a very funny scene where the cart is going around the houses collecting the dead during, I presume, one of the plagues. They come across a body lying on the street and the dialogue goes like this……

Robin: Bring out your dead! Bring out your dead!

[He walks into the stage, with another man who’s walking with a carriage with dead people on it. From the otherside of the stage comes Lancelot, grabbing Fred’s arm.Fred is lying on the ground and Lancelot is dragging him.]

Lancelot (pointing at Fred): Here’s one.

Robin: Nine pence.

Fred: I’m not dead.

Robin: What?

Lancelot (searching through his pockets for money and handing it to Robin):Nothing. Here’s your nine pence.4e60da31337c757a2fd9434bc321386f

Fred: I’m not dead.

Robin: Here, he says he’s not dead.

Lancelot: Yes he is

Fred (calmly): I’m not.

Robin: He isn’t.

Lancelot: Well he’ll be soon, he’s very ill.

Fred: I’m getting better

Lancelot (to Fred):You’ll be stone dead in a minute.

Robin: I can’t take him like that, it’s against regulations

Fred: I don’t want to go on the cart.

Lancelot (To Fred):Don’t be such a baby!

Robin: I can’t take him!

Fred: I feel fine.

Lancelot: Well, do us a favour.

Robin: I can’t.

Lancelot: Well can’t you hang around a couple of minutes? He won’t be long.

Robin: All right, carry him!

[The man walking the cart walks toward Fred and carrying him to put him on the cart. Robin takes the money from Lancelot.]Spamalot

Lancelot: That’s right!

Robin: Make it quick. I have to get to Camelot by six.

Lancelot:You’re going to Camelot?

Lancelot:What, you got a gig?

Robin:No, I’m going to enlist.

Lancelot:What, as a knight?

Lancelot:Well, I’ll come with you!

Fred (From the shoulder of the cart-man):I’m not dead yet.

Lancelot:Shut up! (To Robin) I fancy some of that fighting!

Robin (surprised):Oh? There’s fighting, is there?

Lancelot:Quite a lot, that’s what the job’s all about.

Robin:Oh, I see. It’s not just dressing up and dancing?

Lancelot:No, it’s mostly fighting.

Robin:Oh, good…

Lancelot:I mean, some fights might have a bit of dancing.

Fred (From the top of the cart):I’d like to dance.

Lancelot (turning to Fred, who’s rising and standing): Look, you’re not fooling anyone, you know.

Fred:I feel happy! I feel happy! (Start singing)

 I am not dead yet
I can dance and I can sing
I am not dead yet
I can do the Highland Fling1468460471989

I am not dead yet
No need to go to bed
No need to call the doctor
Cause I’m not yet dead.

He is not yet dead
That’s what the geezer said
No, he’s not yet dead
That man is off his head

He is not yet dead
So put him back in bed
Keep him off the cart because he’s not yet dead. etc. etc. etc.

Fred is very insistent that he is not dead yet, and he is very vocal about it until Lancelot hits him over the head with a shovel!!!!!!! 19002383899_970ab1d8ed_bThe strange thing is that I have had a Fred vocalising his presence in me for a long time and never realised it. He kept on saying “I’m not dead yet, I can dance and I can sing! Look feed me because I have got to live. You need me to live because I have always helped you. Don’t put me on the cart, I’m not dead yet! Remember when you were depressed, we had that way of getting out of it. You have to remember! We are good together! We have always worked things out eventually. I am not dead yet, I can do the Highland Fling!” The only difference with Spamalot’s Fred and my Fred was that mine was actually dead. You see my Fred was what the Bible calls my ‘OLD MAN’ or ‘THE FLESH’! The fact is that our ‘old man” was crucified with Jesus.

Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin.” (Romans 6:6)

As I have mentioned in previous posts I have suffered severely with mental illness and during the worst times I learnt patterns of survival. The bottom line was that these ways were not God’s ways. they may have worked temporarily but never permanently. In August 2015 I ended up in a local Mental Health Unit where God through Psalm 12 spoke very clearly.

“For the oppression of the poor, for the sighing of the needy, Now I will arise,” says the Lord; “I will set him in the safety for which he yearns.”” (Psalm 12:5 NKJV)

He kept His promise and since then has been doing exactly that; putting me on a foundation of security and safety that will not be moved by anything. It certainly hasn’t all been easy. When God shakes things up in us it can feel quite painful. This is where the ‘old man’ comes in. Even though he had been crucified on the cross I still tried to dig him up and get him to help. I became very fearful of the future.  What would happen if depression came again or if I was rejected by someone. What would happen if I fail again. What if? My life was being filled with a lot of ‘What Ifs?’

The strange part of it all was that I didn’t realise I was doing it. God has been rapid with the work He has been doing and taking away anything that I had been relying on instead of Him. I went through a period of crying. I just couldn’t stop, it went on for days. Not just tears but that gut wrenching kind which really feels like you will break in two with the pain. I have a very close friend who is an amazing intercessor and prophet and she was a great help. I would phone or meet her in church and she would pray and come against the attack of the enemy. It was quite an incredible time. God was working miraculously but I still cried. One day I was walking my dogs and the tears just started flowing, I began to really sob and it wouldn’t stop. I knew I couldn’t get home. I walk my dogs quite close to a local cemetery and so I managed to get there, as I thought it wasn’t such a strange thing to find someone doubled over sobbing near graves!!!!!! I then phoned my friend and through the sobs and snot managed to tell her the story. She paused and said “Do you know what, I think you are grieving for your ‘Old Man’!” I couldn’t believe that I would grieve something that had caused me so many problems, had kept me trapped for so long but she was right. My old patterns had been such a part of my past that I was scared to go into the future without them. In other words I was trapped in shackles of fear! Fear blocks trust! I managed to get home, after my friend prayed over me and declared God’s love for me. (Mobile phones are not so bad after all, are they?) When I was home I had to repent. Repent that I had believed a lie, that I had allowed a dead man to come between me and my Father. Repent that I had forgotten how much I am loved by a wonderful God who would not let anything horrible happen to me.

Though an army may encamp against me, My heart shall not fear; (Psalm 27:3 NKJV)

Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; For You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.” (Psalm 23:4 NKJV)

The old man is dead and he can’t dance or sing or do the highland fling. Jesus triumphed over him.

” knowing this, that our old man was crucified with Him, that the body of sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves of sin. For he who has died has been freed from sin.  Now if we died with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with Him,  knowing that Christ, having been raised from the dead, dies no more. Death no longer has dominion over Him.  For the death that He died, He died to sin once for all; but the life that He lives, He lives to God.  Likewise you also, reckon yourselves to be dead indeed to sin, but alive to God in Christ Jesus our Lord.” (Romans 6:6-11 NKJV)

There is only one thing that can take away fear and that is God’s love,

There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves torment. But he who fears has not been made perfect in love.  We love Him because He first loved us.” (1 John 4:!8-19 NKJV)

It is of no use to just know of His love but we have to experience it. I had to learn to rest in Him and soak in His love, I am still learning to rest in His love but it is becoming slightly easier because I do believe I am unique and loved. God has me in the palm of His hand and His plans for me are for good and not calamity

See, I have inscribed you on the palms of My hands;” (Isaiah 49:16NKJV )

For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope. ” (Jeremiah 29:11 NKJV)

God continually blesses us and the Holy Spirit confirms in us continually how much we mean to God. We must rest in Him. Seek His rest. lying-sheepLet Him lead you beside still waters and lay you down in those luscious green pastures. (Psalm23:2) God wants nothing more than to show you that He loves you.

I found the following YouTube clip a fantastic help.  Just sit and let the words flow over you. It is a beautiful Prophetic soaking by Graham Cooke, who is an amazing man of God, Don’t worry about the time, the soaking is on the clip twice but I think you will play it over and over. God loves you so deeply.

The Sequel

This is a continuation of the “Where Do You Live?”  post. I really feel God wants us to have this so secure in us that we can change our world!

“even when we were dead in our transgressions, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved), and raised us up with Him, and seated us with Him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, so that in the ages to come He might show the surpassing riches of His grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus.” (Ephesians 2:5-7 NASB)

If we have given our lives to Jesus, we are now living in Him, seated in Heaven. That is a fact. It is Truth. Let me give you an example:If I climb up a ladder onto my roof to fix a tile or something and when I am there I realise that I have forgotten to bring something I need,  I have to go back and get it. I have a choice, I can either go back down the ladder and fetch it or step off the roof. (I know it is a very poor example but bear with me.) If I step off the roof I am immediately faced with one of the laws that we have to abide by when living on earth. The Law of Gravity. Image result for falling off a roof cartoonWhat goes up must come down! We cannot get away from it. Throw a ball in the air and it comes back down again. You fall over and there is nothing to stop you hitting the ground. It is a Law. It is Truth.Just as there are laws for our earthly living there are certainly laws that exist when we live in the Kingdom of God. One of those is that we are seated with Jesus in Heavenly places. It is not only true but Truth. It cannot be broken.Gravity is always there whether we believe it or not. So is this Truth there whether we live by it or not. I want this to sink in. You can choose whether to live as if you are seated with Christ or not. Try shouting it out loud, “I am seated with Jesus in Heaven”, “I am in Jesus”, “Nothing can separate me from being in Him”, “This is The Truth!”

I want to tell you about my friend. He loves God, reads his bible regularly, prays, goes to church, life group and extra meetings. On the surface this man is an amazing Christian. Let me give you an example of a normal conversation that I might have with him, one that happens on many occasions:

Me: How’s your week been?

Friend: Good, I suppose.

Me: Everything alright?

Friend:You know, same old. same old.

Me: What’s happening?

Friend:The enemy seems to be having a field day with me at work. Getting attacked left, right and centre. You know, it’s always like this.I must be doing something right for satan to bother with me.

Me: What do you mean?

Friend: You know? Why would he bother to attack, if I wasn’t doing something right? I will just keep doing what I’m doing!

No matter what the conversation was about: work. home, church or friends, the answer would be the same. The enemy was always attacking. I asked him once to keep a journal and count the days he was under attack and the days he was living in victory!! What do you think he found out? What would you find out if you did the same? We are created to have abundant life and Jesus’ death on the cross and resurrection has secured it for us!Related image

“The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I came that they may have life, and have it abundantly.” (John 10: 10 NASB)

The enemy is continually prowling around to see who he can devour.

Be of sober spirit, be on the alert. Your adversary, the devil, prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour. (1 Peter 5:8 NASB)

The enemy doesn’t try to derail us because we are doing such a fantastic job in the kingdom! He doesn’t want us to even start to see where our Spirit lives, and so he continually tries to put obstacles in our way to keep us looking earthward and not heavenward! Can you imagine if every Christian on the planet suddenly grabbed hold of the Truth, knowing they were seated in Christ, next to the Father living by Kingdom rules and not earthly ones? The world would be so different. It would be mightily different if you grasped it now. How much would you change the world that you live in?

I am not sure if you were brought up in church with the same kind of preaching that I was. “Life is not meant to be easy!” I think it became my mantra. I would came to expect life to be hard, I expected disappointments. Of course there were obstacles, what else would I expect! Jesus never said that life was never meant to be easy, George Bernard Shaw did, in his book ‘Back to Methuselah’ which was written in 1921 and even he is misquoted, he actually said,

Life is not meant to be easy, my child but take courage: it can be delightful. - George Bernard Shaw

I do like that but it still is not what Jesus said. He said.

“For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.” (Matt 11:30 NASB)

I want you to let that sink in ……….Say it out loud…..Declare it. His yoke is easy and His burden is light. Not hard, heavy and burdensome. EASY and LIGHT!! Is it sinking in yet?

Many people often use Jesus’ life as an example of the hard life but His life was full of doing what He saw the Father doing. He had a joyous life, seeing His Father’s plan come to fulfilment. If my life was filled with doing  what I saw God doing, it would not be hard. I make it hard. The worst and hardest part of Jesus’ life was His crucifixion and that is beyond imagination. I cannot even comprehend how awful it must have been, but He went through it so that we wouldn’t have to!!! Why then do we live a life of crucifixion and not resurrection? We have the same power at work in us that Raised Jesus from the dead! Another Spiritual Law, another Truth!

and what is the exceeding greatness of His power toward us who believe, according to 37384-fire-burning-pexels.1200w.tnthe working of His mighty power  which He worked in Christ when He raised Him from the dead and seated Him at His right hand in the heavenly places, (Ephesians 1:19-20 NKJV)

The Spirit of God, who raised Jesus from the dead, lives in you. And just as God raised Christ Jesus from the dead, he will give life to your mortal bodies by this same Spirit living within you. (Romans 8:11 NLT)

We need to see that not only are we in Christ but He, through the Holy Spirit, lives in us and the Holy Spirit brings exceedingly great power. We all know the passage in Ephesians chapter 6 that concerns the Armour of God. Part of the Armour is the Belt of Truth. It is not a belt of not telling lies but putting on the Truth of the Kingdom. Living by Kingdom Laws. Not living just in the realm of the Law of Gravity in our earthly bodies but in a Heavenly Realm where we can walk on water!!

I want to make one thing absolutely clear. I am not saying that we don’t go through hardship and difficulties in our journey.Of course we do. Part of our growth in God comes out of the trials we face. What I am saying is that we have to look at our journey with a different perspective. We are not earthly beings attempting to live in The Kingdom of God. We are actually Spiritual beings having an earthly experience! Our spirits are one with the Holy Spirit. Our spirit is never altered by our trials and pain in the flesh. Our spirits are always living in the Kingdom and we have to recognise that. That is the choice we have.

Change the place you see yourself living. Not here on earth but in Our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. King of Kings! Lord of Lords! In Him seated at the right hand of the Father!

I believe that we are in a new outpouring of the Power of God. I believe He is readying His Bride. Are you going to the Wedding Supper of the Lamb? Will it be as a guest or as The Bride?

Then I heard what seemed to be the voice of a great multitude, like the roar of many waters and like the sound of mighty peals of thunder, crying out,

For the Lord our God
    the Almighty reigns.
 Let us rejoice and exult
    and give him the glory,
for the marriage of the Lamb has come,
    and his Bride has made herself ready;
it was granted her to clothe herself
with fine linen, bright and pure”—

for the fine linen is the righteous deeds of the saints.

And the angel said to me, “Write this: Blessed are those who are invited to the marriage supper of the Lamb.” And he said to me, “These are the true words of God.”
(Revelation 19:6-9)

I want to finish with a quote from the great man of God, Smith-Wigglesworth. He ministered during the early part of the Twentieth Century and knew where the power in his life came from.

“In the World, new diseases are always surfacing, and doctors cannot identify them. A doctor said to me, ‘The science of medicine is in its infancy, and we doctors really have no confidence in our medicine…we are always experimenting.’ Image result for smith-wigglesworthBUT THE MAN OF GOD DOES NOT EXPERIMENT! He knows, or ought to know, the mightiness of the Lord Jesus Christ. He is not, or should not be moved by outward observation but should get divine revelation of the mightiness of the name of Jesus and the power of His blood. If we exercise our faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, he will come forth and get glory over all the powers of darkness.”
“The moment you pray the heavens are opened. If you have to wait for the heavens to be opened, something is wrong.”
“We must have the devotion and the confidence to believe that He will not fail and cannot fail. You will never get anywhere if you rely on your feelings, there is something a thousand times better than our own feelings and it’s the Living Word of God! There is a divine revelation within you and me that came when we were born above, this is real faith.” (Smith-Wigglesworth)

A Silver Lining

I had a friend give me some advice on the blog the other day. He said that most people don’t read long pieces, and needed pictures and headings. It doesn’t give you, my dear readers much credit!! So this is for you.Mr. H. Tims!

A Silver Lining

The night is dark The day is too

But only you will see me through

There’s no one here, but me alone

But only you can draw me home

I know it’s only you that calms

And I lean into your loving arms

My troubled heart my racing mind

The peace you bring is silver lined

The light of love breaks with the dawn

And only you are my eyes upon

The new day brings a fresh new hope

That Grace will lead me to your throne

I know it’s only you that calms

And I lean into your loving arms

My troubled heart my racing mind

The peace you bring is silver lined

Your fire burns within me

It purifies my heart

Your fire burns within me

It purifies my heart

I am refined like silverrefiners-fire

And purified like gold

I am refined like silver

And purified like gold

I know it’s only you that calms

And I lean into your loving armspraisehimalways-960x350

Just before you think that this is a post talking about the famous Dickens’ character Ebenezer Scrooge from his novel “A Christmas Carol”, I need to correct you. This in fact refers to a story in the Old Testament concerning a great man called Samuel. Samuel had been called by God at a very early age. He was born as a result of his mother’s prayers and placed into God’s hands because of a promise.

“In her deep anguish Hannah prayed to the Lord, weeping bitterly. And she made a vow, saying, “Lord Almighty, if you will only look on your servant’s misery and remember me, and not forget your servant but give her a son, then I will give him to the Lord for all the days of his life…” (1 Sam ch 1 v 10 – 11)

In 1 Samuel ch 3 we can see he was called by God to be a prophet and as he grew older he was recognised as being the voice of God for the Children of Israel.

The Lord was with Samuel as he grew up, and he let none of Samuel’s words fall to the ground. And all Israel from Dan to Beersheba recognized that Samuel was attested as a prophet of the Lord.” (1 Sam ch 3 v 19 – 20)

It wasn’t all blue skies and sunlight for Samuel. The Philistines were always a pain. The Philistines would attack and take cities from the Israelites. They would plunder the riches of Israel. They even took away the sacred Ark of the Covenant. The symbol of God’s presence with His chosen people. It really wasn’t easy for Samuel to lead but he kept His eyes on the One who called him.

So we come to  Ebenezer. It’s not a person but a stone, a rock. Let me fill you in. After so many failures against the Philistines, Samuel and the Israelites began to see victory after victory. They even saw the return of the Ark of the Covenant. So Samuel decided that the time had come to put down a stone in gratitude to the God who had brought about the victories. He called it the rock, Ebenezer!

“Then Samuel took a stone and set it up between Mizpah and Shen. He named it Ebenezer, saying, “Thus far the LORD has helped us.”” (1 Samuel ch 7 v12)

Eben -ezer is a Hebrew word and it means the stone of help. ““Thus far the LORD has helped us.”” It is a point of reference. Up to now God had brought them through. There would be more difficulties but if they could see what God had done, it would increase faith for further triumphs. I love the way the verse says that Samuel took the stone and set it up. He placed it. He put it down. The stone was just like any one you find any where. It wasn’t chiselled out of anything. No man had caused it’s formation. If it had had work done on it, then the rock would become an idol. No one had done anything to the rock. It was placed. It was never to be worshipped, it was just a reminder of God’s goodness.

This is what I love about the Bible. Here we have a story that is at least 3000 years old and yet it has relevance for Christians today. We need to take our rocks and place them, just to remind us of the goodness of God. All we do is place it. The triumph has come from God and not by our own doing.

I have more than one Ebenezer in my life. I will give you an example of  two of them. I hope they are helpful. At the moment I have a ministry within Aged Care. I go to different facilities and I sing. I have made this one of my Ebenezers. Every time I sing I remember all the amazing blessings God has given me. I remember how God has taken hold of my life and given meaning to it. How He has worked in my life to allow me to sing.

Another Ebenezer I have is like a full stop. I placed it at the end of a season of struggle and turmoil. It was a period in my life when I lost hope. I couldn’t see light. I couldn’t even see the tunnel I was in it was so dark let alone the light at the end of it!!! But God had His hand on me and gave me a promise.

““Because the poor are plundered, because the needy groan, I will now arise,” says the LORD; “I will place him in the safety for which he longs.”” (Psalm 12 v 5 ESV)

God honoured that promise. It took months for me to see something happening but I know that from the point of the promise, God was in action. There were times when the situation seemed so hard but God reminded me of His promise. There were times when I was so angry with God that I was reminding Him of His promise. I can tell you this, that God is faithful. I am now in a place of security in God that I have never been before. I know His love for me. I placed the Ebenezer here. This one has become a bit of a wall even though it is only a rock. It is a before and after stone. The stone represents a new season, the next step or transition. That point reminds me of who God is to me. My Father, my Shepherd, my Deliverer, my Stronghold, my Love etc. I don’t need to go past that point. Who I was then is not who I am now. No going back because I now know of God’s hand on me.

I want you to start to place Ebenezers in your life. Whether it is in an area of your life that you do regularly. Something meaningful that when you do it you can remember all  God has done for you. It might be a date or an event, that when you remember it you can see God’s hand in your life. It might be that you often fail over the same areas time and time again. Anger, lack of patience, pride, lust: you get the picture. Those areas are like the Philistines for Samuel. Always around causing havoc. Defeat after defeat. Then there started to be a couple of victories so immediately the rock is put in place. So when you start to see even the smallest of victories in an area, put the stone down. It will remind you that victories can happen. The stone is not a good luck charm that can  guarantee that the defeat will go away for ever but  we can thank God for His forgiveness, look at our Ebenezer and thank Him that the victory can happen again.

I can promise you that your Ebenezer will bring hope

“And hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us.” Rom ch 5 v 5

Hope always brings Faith. Remember all that God has done for you. Remember how He loves you.

“Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.” (Hebrews 11 v 1)

The exciting aspect of your Ebenezer is that it reminds you of what you have seen God do so how much greater will be your faith!!!!! Hallelujah!
